Living So That…

Have you ever thought about the words “so that”? Thought about what they really mean. Let’s look at their definition.

SO: adverb

1. in the way or manner indicated, described, or implied: Do it so.
2. in that or this manner or fashion; thus: So it turned out.
3.  in the aforesaid state or condition: It is broken and has long been so.
4. to the extent or degree indicated or suggested: Do not walk so fast.

THAT: conjunction

(used to introduce a subordinate clause as the subject or object of the principal verb or as the necessary complement to a statement made, or a clause expressing cause or reason, purpose or aim, result or consequence, etc.): I’m sure that you’ll like it. That he will come is certain. Hold it up so that everyone can see it.

Ah….did you catch the last part of that definition?

“Hold it up….SO THAT…everyone can see it.” It almost serves like an “if / then” statement.

“If we do this, then that will happen.”

Imagine if we looked at scripture in the same way. Wendy Blight, author of the book, “Living So That” did exactly that, and I’m about to begin a new bible study that will look at these scripture verses in a new and amazing way. This will be a deep dive in scripture and learning a lot about why Jesus came, why God speaks, what praying does, what trials mean, and what letting your light shine achieves.

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “there’s a reason for everything”. But have you ever tried to make sense of it? There’s a reason Jesus came to earth. There’s a reason God speaks to us, there’s a reason we need prayer and to pray, there’s a reason for trails, and there’s a reason to let your light shine. The reason is….so that…. (you can fill in the blank!)
