Being thankful and giving thanks is the closing lesson in this study. We must be thankful for the good and the bad. The trials are just as important in our faith. Verse 13 reminds us that God is our strength, and only because of that strength, we can do all things.
Thanks for Their Gifts
10 I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
I’m thankful for what I have. From the good to the things I don’t necessarily want. However, I have learned that the struggles are simply an opportunity to further lean on God’s strength, because it is only that strength that gets me through. With God, I can do everything! I can do nothing on my own strength.
Prayer, thankfulness, rejoicing, studying, and the admission that I need God to get me through it all. I must approach all I do with the mindset that it is God and only God that allows me to do what I do. God is in control. God is in charge. I cannot try and take control because I will fail.
Lord, thank You for being my strength in all I do. I know sometimes I try to do things on my own, but I know that it is Your strength that I lean on in order to get through all situations and circumstances. May I use all the gifts You have given me only for good and to help bring others to You. May others see You through me and put their trust in You. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
